Students grabbed their backpacks and sported their newest back-to-school outfit and flashed bright happy smiles as the Academic Year 2017-18 began at Carmel School on Thursday, June 1st .The scorching heat of the prolonged summer season could not stop the fervour and zest of one thousands of our students to mark their attendance in classes as after almost 50 days of summer vacation. Each angel of our school community experienced warmth of welcome as they were ushered in bythe teachers.

The joy of the students was boosted by the morning assembly in the school Auditorium where each student experienced the presence of God and thanked God of all wisdom and knowledge for giving a brand New Year to live, to love, to learn, to grow and to celebrate life –all through succinct Prayer Service.

Just as the plant has tremendous potential to be a tree and to bear abundant fruit, similarly our students have implausible inner power to blossom into gorgeous persons through the opportunities which will be provided to them in school this year-This was symbolically brought out through Lighting of the Lamp and watering the plants. Prayers of Petition and Thanksgiving were made. The Prayer Service ended with the universal prayer “Our Father’.

The New Teachers and Students were introduced by the senior faculty and Principal welcomed them with Name Plate and a Fragranced Rose into the Carmel Family. A walk into the land of magic was experienced by our students as they were warmly welcomed by the astounding performance of the magician Mr. Herman Noronha. The magic lingered in the air as the students were filled with warmth and elation to come to school.

Sr.Sarika our Principal in her thought provoking address recounted the Story of the Balloon and thereby paraphrased the moral of the story through probing.

Moral: How high a person will rise in life depends not on his caste, creed or colour but on his thoughts, confidence, values and character. She thereby channelled the students to think good thoughts, become critical thinkers, prolific writers, to uphold values and form good character. The programme concluded with the singing of the school song .

When the clock hit 3:30 pm the smiling children at Carmel School bolted from classrooms and headed out of the school doors toward buses and waiting parents after completing their first day back.
