Grandparents are the family’s strong foundation. Through their special love and care, they keep a family close at heart. To honour them Carmel School celebrated Grandparents Day on 21st December 2018 at St. Anne High School Hall. The enthusiastic participation of the grandparents made our students cheerful and delighted. Sr.Maria Sheela A.C., presided over the function. Dr. Edward Nazareth , a professor of Orthopaedics at Fr. Muller Medical College was the chief guest. Our tiny tots of K.G. with their bright smiles and traditional costumes welcomed the guests.

The students invoked God’s abundant blessings on the grandparents through a beautiful prayer service. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Sr. Sarika, our principal followed by a welcome dance.

Dr. Edward Nazareth spoke on the topic “Graceful Aging”. By giving examples of great personalities, he highlighted certain important aspects like prevention, treatment and positive attitude. He emphasised on “Live your life and forget your age” and also gave them important guidelines to maintain good health. The elders clarified doubts regarding their health. It was appreciated by all.

To add colour to the programme, our students dedicated a skit on “Grandparents are our treasure”. A joke was enacted by Diya and Medini. The students of class X beautifully danced to the old hit songs.

To balance the tone, teachers conducted various spot games, which made them lively. The programme concluded by Christmas message and by singing carols.

Mr. Shilas and Ms. Theertha compered the programme. Mrs. Sachitha proposed the vote of thanks. At the end the grandparents enjoyed a delicious vegetarian meal.
