Depleting number of trees becomes a serious issue. To make students aware of this and take initiative towards it, Carmel school has celebrated Vanamahostav Day on 5th July 2019.

The programme began with the arrival of the Chief guest, Sr.Maria Kripa A.C., Joint Secretary , along with Sr.Sarika our Principal, Sr.Rose Agnes, our Administrator, Sr.Gracy, our Vice Principal, Sr.Marlyn, our Co-ordinator and Mrs Lavita, member of the Managing Committee.

The Programme commenced with a prayer service followed by a welcome dance. The Chief Guest was accorded a warm welcome by the Principal with a potted sapling. A group of students performed a mime show to create awareness towards conservation of trees and then it was proceeded by a folk dance.

The chief guest addressed the gathering after unveiling the magazine of our school. The Principal encouraged the students to preserve trees, also to take care and protect them. The programme was compered by Haniya, Nelvisha Creissel Rego, Chandrima Monteiro and Diya Gopal. Atiya Banu of class X A rendered the vote of thanks. The programme conculded with the school Anthem.

As a part of the programme the Eco Club members and the teachers took initiative in sowing of Farmcils. Farmcils are re- cycled paper pencils with seeds in it. They are pencils that will grow plants once planted in the soil. Once the pencil is too short to use, it can be used to grow plants in the soil. Various plants of fruits and vegetables were displayed, in the ‘Fruit World’ and the ‘Veg World’, which was a unique experience to the students to know the plants and their produce. The Eco Club took active participation in organising this programme.
