To solemnize womanhood and to pay tribute to the indomitable spirit of women, Carmel School here organized the International Women’s Day with cultural extravaganza.

The auspicious occasion commenced with welcoming the dignitaries with a rose plant, a candle, rocks and seeds. "Leave everything in God’s Hands, so that you may see God’s Hand in everything" — The Students of Grade 6 craved for God’s Blessings on all the women through a Prayer Service.

“Within you is the light of a thousand suns”, says Robert Adams. Sister Marie Lucy, Superior of St Ann’s Convent and Joint Secretary of St Ann’s Campus Institutions along with the other dignitaries Miss Sabitha Monis, Student Welfare Officer, Alva’s Institutions, Moodabidre, Miss Thanushri Pithrodi , Guiness World Record holder in the art of yoga and an exceptional dancer, Miss Reishal Monteiro National powerlifting champion and the recipient of the award – Strong Woman and Best Lifter of Karnataka 2021, Sister Sarika, The Principal and Sister Rose Agnes -The Administrator lit the lamp.

The Creative Welcome Dance and the Welcome Address set the tone for the Grand Fiesta. "Music is a piece of art that goes into the ears straight to the heart" - Akshaj and the group sang melodiously, greeting the women in attendance and winning applause. Through a scintillating dance, the vivacious boys underlined the role of a mother in a family and society. The theme Gender Equality was beautifully exemplified in the Dance Drama entitled ‘BE THE HEROINE OF YOUR LIFE” choreographed by V. J. Dixon.

Miss Sabitha Monis, Miss Thanushri Pithrodi and Miss Reishal Monteiro were then felicitated with a shawl by Sister Marie Lucy, Garland by Sister Rose Agnes, Fruit Basket by Sister Sarika and Citation was read and presented by Teachers Sonia, Shilas and Liffin. Addressing the audience Miss Sabitha Monis said, "Take hurdles cheerfully, fix a goal, believe in God and never give up, count smiles instead of tears and count courage instead of fears". Miss Tanushree Pithrodi gave a clarion call to work for success, to be hopeful enough to look for it, patient enough to wait for it, brave enough to seize it and strong enough to hold it. Miss Reishal reiterated not to become discouraged by failures and setbacks instead to believe that failures can be milestones to a successful and bright future.

In her presidential address Sister Marie Lucy congratulated The Administrator, The Principal and the Faculty for the splendid performance and spoke at length about Women Empowerment.

Nada Mehar, Sahanya Shetty, Sanjay Raj, Joshua D’Souza, Sania Hani and Viola Simron Menezes compeered the programme. Mrs Deepthi and Miss Akshatha emceed the Stage Programme. Teacher Anusha welcomed the gathering and Mrs Juliet Preethi Lobo proposed the Vote of Thanks.
